The deadline for entries for this year’s “Choose Respect” Poster Contest, organized by the Office of the Governor, is Dec. 13. All Alaskan school children from preschool through high school are eligible to participate.
This year’s theme is: “Respect: Lead the Way.” Young artists are encouraged to create images around this theme, which may include youth helping others, being responsible community members, and choosing respect over violent or harmful behaviors.
The poster contest winner will enjoy a classroom ice cream party sponsored by Tastee Freez of Anchorage. The winning poster will be reproduced and sent to more than 150 communities across Alaska, used on Choose Respect materials, and posted on the Governor’s web site. Last year, the contest generated an unprecedented 174 entries from all over Alaska.
Contest guidelines and deadline information are detailed on the Choose Respect webpage at gov.alaska.gov/parnell/priorities/choose-respect.html.
