Alaskan Brewing to host books and brews event Saturday

“These are a few of my favorite things...” The Alaskan Brewing Co.’s “Local Brews, Local Books” event, scheduled for this Saturday, Dec. 14, at the Depot Store downtown, brings together two areas of local expertise: book writing and beer making.

Attendees can talk with local authors, who will be signing copies of their books during the event, while sampling the latest brews from the Alaskan Brewing Co. (Sampling is limited to those 21 and over, of course.)

Authors scheduled to attend are Lynn Schooler, author of “Walking Home" and “The Blue Bear”; Dick Callahan, author of “Gear List of the Golden Moon”; Bob Armstrong, author of “Photographing Nature in Alaska" and "Aquatic Insects in Alaska”; Richard Carstensen, author of “Natural History of Juneau Trails”; Shorefast Editions’ “The Flying North”; and the Alaskan Brewing Company’s “Alaskan Brewing Cookbook.”

The event runs from 1-4 p.m. at the Depot, located at 219 S. Franklin St. downtown.
