The Jan. 8 Wildlife Wednesday presentation will be “Can Untrammeled Wilderness Endure?” with Kevin Hood, Wilderness Manager for Admiralty Island National Monument with the Juneau Ranger District, US Forest Service. Hood’s talk will begin at 7 p.m. at the Thunder Mountain High School Library, located on the second floor of the high school, 3101 Riverside Drive. Hood is also the chairman for the celebration committee for the 50th Anniversary of the Wilderness Act, which will be observed in 2014. A variety of events have been scheduled throughout the year in celebration.
Wildlife Wednesday events are free and open to the public. Refreshments are served.
Next up will be Kevin White, a wildlife biologist with the Department of Fish and Game, on Feb. 5; and Richard Carstensen, a naturalist, researcher and author, on March 5.
