Music on the Fly series continues with Sunday evening performances

The Juneau Arts & Humanities Council’s Music on the Fly series continues this week with a performance by the Floyd Dryden 8th-Grade String Orchestra, directed by Missouri Smyth.

The group will perform at Juneau Airport from 6:45-7:45 p.m. on Sunday, Jan. 19.

The next scheduled Music on the Fly performance will be Feb. 16, when the Alaska Youth Choir & Company will perform sacred and secular choral music from 6:45 - 7:45 pm. This group will also be led by Smyth.

The Music on the Fly series is patterned after similar offerings in other airports, such as the Portland International Airport. The purpose of the series is to uplift travelers as they begin or end their journeys; to encourage local residents to visit and enjoy the airport; to give local entertainers performance opportunities; and to set the tone for Juneau as Alaska’s Creative Capital.
