This Friday’s Sound and Motion presentation at the Egan Lecture Hall will be led by Homer writer Tom Kizzia, author of “Pilgrim’s Wilderness.”
Kizzia’s talk, “Transcendentalists, Puritans and Pilgrims in Alaska,” will draw on his travels through Alaska Native communities in exploring the uses of wild nature as myth and metaphor in Alaska’s national parks.
He’ll also talk about the historic white pioneer communities of the Wrangell Mountains, where modern back-to-the-landers found themselves in conflict with the Calvinist cult world of the Pilgrim Family.
A question-and-answer period about the book will follow.
