Blues guitarist Sammy Burrous is headed back to Juneau for a visit next month, and he’s lined up shows at several venues. On Friday, March 7, he’ll play a blues and swing show at the University of Alaska Southeast, and the next night, March 8, he’ll be playing at the Rendezvous.
The following week, on March 15 and 16, Burrous will present a Tom Waits Tribute Show at the Gold Town Nickelodeon. Musicians in addition to Burrous include Mike Janes, Dale Mcfarlin, Rob Cohen, Doug Bridges, Mike Stanley and Chris Frary. Betsy Sims will be doing sound and Amanda Waid will be putting together the lighting and effects.
The show will feature Waits songs from throughout his career, complete with a horn section.
It will be presented three times: at 7 and 9 p.m. on Saturday, March 15, and at 4:30 p.m. Sunday, March 16.
Tickets are $15 in advance and $20 at the door and are available at Brown Paper Tickets, http://www.brownpapertickets.com/event/594970.
Money raised from the performances will go to help complete work on Burrous’ Devils Club debut EP.
