Writer and producer Gary Anderson will be visiting Juneau to perform his one-man play “Naked Darrow” on March 7 and 8. The play is based on the life of the iconic American attorney Clarence Darrow, whose motto was, “Lost causes are the only ones worth fighting for.” The play presents Darrow at 79 years old, stubbornly facing disease and death, as he confuses the past with reality and revisits several of his most famous trials. Darrow made each case important by tying the fate of one persecuted outcast into the notion of America and it’s humanity and freedom, becoming their voice when no other voices dared rise in their defense.
Performances will be at 7 p.m., Saturday and Sunday in the Sun Room on the second floor at Juneau Urgent and Family Care building, 8505 Old Dairy Road. Admission is pay-what-you-wish, with donations accepted for the JUFC scholarship fund.
