It’s a big weekend for theater in the capital city.
On Friday, Perseverance Theatre will open their fourth play of the 2013-2014 season, Tennessee Williams’ classic “Cat on a Hot Tin Roof,” starring Enrique Bravo as Brick, Elizabeth M. Kelly as Margaret and Rici Adan as Big Mama. Directed by Robert Barry Fleming, the play runs through March 30. For ticket information and showtimes, visit http://www.perseverancetheatre.org.
Also Friday, Theatre in the Rough will open “Rivals” at McPhetres Hall. Written by Richard Brinsley Sheridan and directed by Aaron Elmore, the play stars Katie Jensen as Mrs. Malaprop as well as several new Roughians. Find out more here: http://www.theatreintherough.org.
Friday is also opening night for Patricia Hull’s one woman show, opening at the Silverbow (see Geoff Kirsch’s story in this week’s Arts). And a one-man show will open the Saturday night at Juneau Urgent Care, when visiting actor and writer Gary Anderson will present the first of two productions of his play “Naked Darrow.” (See brief in this week’s Arts.)
Finally, on Saturday, Juneau’s first Bard-a-thon will begin at 6 p.m. with a public reading of “A Midsummer Night’s Dream.” This eight-day Shakespearian marathon runs through March 15. (See story in this week’s Arts.)
