KRNN concert to focus on Blue Note Jazz

As part of the KRNN Spotlight Music Series, Rob Cohen and Friends will present a concert in tribute to the Blue Note Jazz label, which turns 75 this year, on Wednesday at the Gold Town Nickelodeon. The “Tribute to Blue Note Records” Jazz Concert will feature a selection of tunes that spans more than 20 years of the label’s storied legacy. Highlighted composers and bandleaders include Theolinus Monk, John Coltrane, Horace Silver, Art Blakey and Joe Henderson.

 

The sextet includes Ketchikan musician Dale Curtis (trumpet), Doug Bridges (saxophone), Michael Bucy (trombone), Rob Cohen (piano), Alexei Painter (bass) and Clay Good (drums).

The concert begins at 7 p.m. Wednesday, March 19, at the Gold Town Nickelodeon.

Tickets are on sale at KTOO or online at www.krnn.org, and are $15 in advance or $18 at the door.
