Grammy Award Winner Michael W. Smith to Perform in Juneau

Grammy award winning singer-songwriter Michael W. Smith will be coming to Juneau to play a benefit concert for Love INC on July 9.

Editor's note: As of Thursday, all tickets for the Michael W. Smith concert had been sold. A waiting list line will form at Centennial Hall beginning at 4:30 p.m. on the day of the concert.

Singer-songwriter Michael W. Smith will be performing a benefit concert in Juneau July 9 at Centennial Hall. Smith will be travelling to Juneau on day four of a seven-day cruise of Southeast Alaska as part of Inspiration Cruises on Holland America’s MS Amsterdam. The concert, which begins at 5:30 p.m., will feature Smith along with a 250-member choir, and is a benefit for Love INC. The cruise follows on the heels of tour dates for Smith in the Republic of Georgia and Poland as part of the Franklin Graham Festival.

Smith is an acclaimed singer, songwriter and musician who has sold more than 15 million albums, achieved 28 No. 1 songs, earned three Grammy Awards, one American Music Award and more than 40 Dove Awards. Most recently, in honor of ASCAP’s 100th Anniversary, Smith, along with Amy Grant, was honored as “a cornerstone of Christian music,” for his groundbreaking career and significant influence on the genre. Throughout his career, the Contemporary Christian Music artist has had the opportunity to sing for several presidents and national leaders. He actively supports the teen club Rocketown, Compassion International and Samaritan’s Purse, the ministry headed by Franklin Graham. Smith and his wife Debbie live in Tennessee, where they raised their five children.
