World-acclaimed cellist Zuill Bailey, along with his prized 1698 Gofriller cello, will perform for Juneau audiences this Saturday evening, Aug. 30, at the Juneau Arts & Culture Center.
Bailey, recently hailed as “one of the greatest cello players of all time” by a reviewer in Cape Town, South Africa, will be performing with pianist Susan Wingrove-Reed. Their program will include the acclaimed cello concertos by Haydn, Saint-Saëns and Prokofiev.
All proceeds from the performance will go to the 2015 Juneau Jazz & Classics Festival.
“If you’ve ever heard my friend Zuill Bailey play the cello, you know that magical moments will happen when he puts his bow on the string and the eloquent voice of his cello speaks to us,” said Jazz & Classics Artistic Director Linda Rosenthal. “He’s one of the most charismatic, expressive and powerful performers on today’s concert stage.”
Advance tickets are $50 general admission and $25 for students, or $55/$30 at the door.
Tickets are available at www.jazzandclassics.org, the JACC Box Office, Hearthside Books or by calling JJ&C at 463-3378.
