The Juneau Douglas City Museum will host a solo artist reception for Tsimshian carver Abel Ryan. For 30 years Ryan has been a practicing Northwest Coast artist working in wood and silver carving. Ryan’s exhibit “Seeing Faces,” will focus on faces, mainly masks, both old and new. His artwork will be for sale at the Museum. This event is free.

To make room for more inventory, Annie Kaill’s will be holding its annual January sale. There’ll be discounts on just about anything remaining (except originals and consignment), as well as deals on leftover Christmas merchandise and any discontinued or scratch-and-dents saved throughout the year. The sale will begin on First Friday, Jan. 5 and continue throughout the weekend.
Trish Turner Custard: “Cast-off: A Photo Story”

Trish Turner Custard’s show “Cast-off: A Photo Story” will be displayed at the brewery this month. This light-hearted and unique show features an abandoned chair that was left at Eagle beach in April 2017. Custard has taken the chair to various locations around Juneau and photographed it. Each photo will be paired with a quote or poem for this show. BBC will have a limited release brew to kick off this show.

“Welcome to the Eldraje Forest”

Come meet the inhabitants of the Eldraje Forest — lumbering dinosaur bears, mysterious anthropomorphic corvids and nimble blacktail archers. You can roll dice to create your own character and earn experience throughout the year by adventuring with them at the Alaska Robotics Gallery. Throughout the year, your character can win you prizes like books, games and gift certificates. Some stores have customer rewards cards — Alaska Robotics created a fantasy game, and it begins this First Friday.
