AUSTIN, Texas (AP) — Brady Sanders scored 15 points Tuesday night and No. 18 Texas rolled past Louisiana-Monroe 77-49.

Cokie Reed had 14 points and Imani McGee-Stafford had 11 points and 11 rebounds for the Longhorns (6-1). Empress Davenport also scored 11 points.

The Longhorns played their first game since losing to No. 14 UCLA 62-42 on Saturday in Houston. Texas led Louisiana-Monroe 35-21 at the break and opened up a 59-31 lead midway through the second half.

NEW YORK — The NBA issued flopping warnings to Minnesota’s JJ Barea and Cleveland’s Donald Sloan on Monday, the first two under a new policy designed to end the act. Barea threw his upper body backward after contact while defending Sacramento’s Jimmer Fredette in the fourth quarter on Friday. Sloan tumbled wildly to the court a few feet from contact after a pick set against him by Chicago’s Nazr Mohammed on Friday.

NEW YORK — The little hope that existed for a full NHL season appears to be gone.

Shortly after the players’ reached out to the league on Tuesday night to restart stalled labor negotiations, NHL deputy commissioner Bill Daly rebuffed the union’s attempt.

NHL Commissioner Gary Bettman said last week, in presenting the league’s most recent offer to the players, that if a new collective bargaining agreement wasn’t reached by this Thursday, it would be impossible for a full regular-season schedule to be played.

NEW YORK (AP) — Seattle Sounders coach Sigi Schmid was suspended for a game and fined $2,000 by MLS on Friday for comments about the officials during and after his team’s 0-0 tie with Real Salt Lake on Wednesday night.

“Sigi Schmid’s comments earlier this week about the officiating were unacceptable,” MLS Commissioner Don Garber said. “MLS requires that its players, coaches, and club leadership maintain proper respect for the officials at all times.”

Schmid criticized referee Ricardo Salazar at halftime, saying it’s “nightmare” when he officiates.
