JUNEAU — It doesn’t make sense for Moda Health to continue to extend health insurance policies that are not in compliance with the federal health care overhaul, a spokesman for the company said Tuesday.
Jonathan Nicholas said the company will not extend past this year such policies in Alaska, Oregon and Washington. The company offers policies on insurance exchanges in all three states.
“It makes no sense to extend them,” he said. “The whole point is to embrace transformation by bringing new people into the system and creating a single pool.”
