Police say three people were taken to the hospital after a car crash at the Egan Drive and Glacier Highway intersection near the hospital Wednesday morning.

The Juneau Police Department and Capital City Fire/Rescue personnel responded to the accident at about 10:35 a.m.

Three cars were involved and three people were taken to Bartlett Regional Hospital to be evaluated and treated for injuries, according to police.

The extent of the injuries is unknown at this time, and no other details were immediately available. Police say they are still investigating.

Squished in between a holistic store and a zip-line business on North Franklin is an old concrete building that has been vacant for the past 12 years. With a decaying color-blocked facade and boarded-up windows and doors, most people pass by the Palace Theater without a second glance. The one exception to its newfound invisibility were the nighttime inebriates who made use of its recessed entryway — eventually, that was boarded-up too.

A judge on Friday sentenced John Nick Marvin Jr. to serve two 99-year prison sentences for killing two police officers in Hoonah in 2010.
The sentencing marks an end to the case at the trial court level, which culminated in a week-long jury trial in Juneau in late October and early November, and provides closure for the family members of the slain officers, they said.

Former police lieutenant Troy A. Wilson pleaded guilty Wednesday to seven felonies for shooting at Juneau Police Department officers last Easter as they responded to a 911 call at his house.

Surrounded by eight family members and friends in the courtroom, Wilson entered into a plea deal that leaves sentencing up to the court. He will not be sentenced until July.

“Guilty, your honor,” Wilson said steadily, sitting shackled next to his attorney at the defendant’s table as the judge asked how he pleaded to each of the amended charges.
