The United States Postal Service ended an efficiency study at the Juneau Service Mail Processing Center, meaning no changes or consolidations will be made to area processing systems.

The USPS had plans to conduct the Area Mail Processing (AMP) study to review processing and transportation operations, efficiencies and capacity needs. The possible outcome of the study would have been transferring some operations to Anchorage.

The Southeast Environmental Conference, an event sponsored by the Central Council Tlingit and Haida Indian Tribes of Alaska (CCTHITA) as a way to spark collaboration between the Southeast tribes and corporations on environmental topics, concluded Thursday.

Those involved said it was a big success in getting the talking started.

CCTHITA environmental technician Howard Gray said there very significant dialogues between cross generations, as both elders and youths were able to see examples of collaborative efforts between agencies and their tribes.

I went into “Cars 2” blind, having never seen the first one. One thing I was curious about, besides who built these talking cars if the world is nothing but talking cars, was if I could start here and still get into the franchise. After all, that’s how I did it with “Rocky.” The answer here is yes…and not really.

“Yes” because I was able to figure out the “Cars” world right off the bat. It’s a world populated by cars, plus a few other varieties of vehicles, that are alive and don’t need humans around to drive them. They’d probably just get in the way.
