Before addressing Alaska’s newest lawmakers at a Wednesday luncheon at the Juneau-Douglas City Museum, Gov. Bill Walker had a disclaimer.
“If my phone rings, I’m going to answer,” he said.
His daughter, Tessa, was in labor, about to give birth to the governor’s third grandchild.
After that, Walker gave the legislators a pep talk about the struggling state budget, which they are tasked with fixing in the session that begins Tuesday.
