The women’s bracket is back.
And then some.
Playing in front of a near-capacity crowd, Hoonah’s Carissa Mills hit a jump shot with six seconds remaining to break a tied game and the Kake Firewomen’s hearts, 42-40 in the Juneau Lions Club’s 68th Annual Gold Medal Basketball Tournament on Tuesday at Juneau-Douglas High School.
“It was definitely amazing,” Mills, 23, said. “It is great to have a women’s bracket back in Gold Medal. This is my first one, it is definitely fun.”
This was the first women’s bracket game since 2007, and it did not disappoint.
