Juneau’s Christine Quick, 23, reached the pinnacle of athletic success on Wednesday at the 2015 Special Olympics World Summer Games in Los Angeles, winning a gold medal and the title of Olympic champion.
Quick won the 50-meter backstroke final with a score of 00:00:54.25.
“I am very happy to have gold,” Quick told media in Los Angeles. “I swam very fast.”
Quick also has a ribbon for a seventh-place finish in the 100-meter freestyle.
