The Juneau School District Board of Education, more commonly referred to as the school board, has either two or three of its seven seats up for election every year.
This year, there are three seats up, and there are five candidates vying to fill them.
Incumbents Andrea “Andi” Story, the board’s vice president, and Phyllis Carlson are running for reelection. Both have served on the board since 2003 and are seeking their fourth consecutive three-year terms.
Mark Choate decided not to run for a third term, citing other commitments.
