ANCHORAGE — U.S. Rep. Don Young has won a 21st term in Congress, which could allow him to become Alaska’s longest-serving member of Congress, edging the late Ted Stevens.
Young on Tuesday handily defeated Democrat Sharon Cissna, who struggled to gain traction or campaign money in the race.
“I always try to run a positive campaign, always have,” he said Monday shortly after casting an early vote in Anchorage. “I don’t mention my opponents and just try to do the things right for the state of Alaska. It’s all up to Alaskans.”
