No. 1 Indiana holds off Nebraska 76-47

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. — Indiana spent the first 15 minutes Wednesday night contending with Nebraska’s deliberate style.

The Hoosiers spent the final 25 decimating it.

Cody Zeller fought through foul trouble to score 16 points, Christian Watford finished with 13 points and 11 rebounds and No. 1 Indiana eventually pulled away from the Cornhuskers for a resounding 76-47 victory.

Indiana moves back into No. 1 spot in AP poll

Tom Crean’s whirlwind week got even crazier Monday.

Upon returning home from the Super Bowl, the Indiana coach found out he’s leading America’s No. 1 college basketball team. Again.

It was another crowning moment in a week full of big wins for the Crean clan. Indiana beat No. 13 Michigan State, archrival Purdue and No. 1 Michigan in a seven-day span, before Crean headed to New Orleans. There, he watched one brother-in-law beat his other brother-in-law for the Super Bowl title. Finally, he saw the Hoosiers reclaim the top spot in The Associated Press poll after seven weeks.

No. 1 Indiana dominates C. Connecticut St. 100-69

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. — Cody Zeller dominated inside. Victor Oladipo had another solid all-around game, and Christian Watford made three more 3-pointers. There was a little defense, too.

On nights like these, it’s easy to see why Indiana is No. 1.

Watford scored 21 points, Zeller had 19 points and 19 rebounds, and the top-ranked Hoosiers routed Central Connecticut State 100-69 on Saturday.

NCAA grad rates improving in football, basketball

INDIANAPOLIS — More men’s basketball players are taking advantage of the biggest shot of their life and earning a college diploma.

The latest results from the NCAA’s annual Graduation Success Rate showed a record 74 percent of Division I basketball players from the 2005-06 freshmen class left school with a degree, a 6-percentage point increase over the one-year measurement from the class of 2004-05.

It’s a stunning turnaround for a sport that has traditionally lagged others in the closely watched report.
