Mariners swept in Texas after 11-3 loss 

ARLINGTON, Texas — Seattle Mariners manager Eric Wedge is still confident that all his hitters will get on track.

For now, there are a lot of swings and misses.

The Mariners at least scored before leaving Texas, but had 11 more strikeouts in an 11-3 loss Sunday that completed a three-game sweep for the Rangers.

Manziel, Texas A&M beat Oklahoma 41-13 in Cotton 

ARLINGTON, Texas — Johnny Manziel stretched out both of his arms and ran off the field as if he was flying.

With the Heisman Trophy-winning quarterback known as Johnny Football, Texas A&M certainly is soaring in the SEC.

Manziel tiptoed the sideline for a 23-yard touchdown on the first drive of the Cotton Bowl, the first of his four touchdowns as part of his bowl-record 516 total yards and the Aggies capped their first SEC season with a 41-13 win over 12th-ranked Oklahoma on Friday night.

NBA 

DALLAS — This was too easy for LeBron James and the Miami Heat against a Dallas team already missing Dirk Nowitzki when it was plagued by more injuries.

There was no semblance of their two NBA Finals matchups against each other.

James scored 24 points with some early baskets on nifty passes from Dwyane Wade, and the Heat rolled to a 110-95 victory Thursday night, a game in which Miami led by 36 points before James and Wade sat out entire fourth quarter.

Heisman winner Manziel glad to get back in huddle 

Johnny Manziel is ready to get back to being Johnny Football.

After not talking to the media all season until Nov. 26, two days after the regular season finale, the Texas A&M quarterback has been from Florida to New York to Hollywood. Along the way, he won the Heisman Trophy and a host of other major awards.

Orioles knock out 2-time AL champion Rangers 5-1 

ARLINGTON, Texas — Buck Showalter and the Baltimore Orioles will get another chance to overtake the New York Yankees.

The surprising O’s have already beaten some big odds, getting past the two-time defending AL champion Texas Rangers and their Japanese ace, Yu Darvish, in the win-or-go-home wild-card playoff.

Joe Saunders pitched effectively into the sixth inning at a place where he had never won, Adam Jones delivered the tiebreaking sacrifice fly and the Orioles, in the playoffs for the first time in 15 years, eliminated the Rangers 5-1 Friday night.
