What a great town!

What a great town!
So today my Petersburg Swedish got the best of me.
I couldn't stop my cravings of being around fish so I stopped to visit Mike Erickson (and Bonnie and family) out at Alaska Glacier Seafoods and was lucky enough to get a tour.
You have to love when a local guy does good, has a passion for what he does, and gives back to the community. And does it among fish!
Plus I learned, and was reacquainted, with a few fishing scenes I had experienced growing up in Petersburg... the slime lines, the fish pumping, the crab unloading, etc., etc., etc.
A few boats were docked and a few moved about the harbor, and I got to talk to a few old fishermen from Petersburg.
On Mike's wall is a photo of Devils Thumb that looks like it was taken from the beach in front of my parent's old house.
Boo Hoo! Almost homesick.
After significantly getting the lovely aroma of fisheries on my shoes it was time to go.
Back at work touched base with another good old boy doing good.
Joe Tompkins has the junior all-star baseball team ready to take a swing at a region championship in Vancouver and head off to a world series.
The boys are in the midst of a heat wave down in Vancouver, Washington.
And the Juneau Majors will be headed to San Bernardino, California on Tuesday for their swing at the World Series.
There are a lot of good things going on in this town if we just take a moment to go out and smell the fish slime.
