#YesAllWomen is a hashtag that started trending following the Isla Vista shooting, but it's not just about the shooting, or shootings in general, or those women — it's about the experiences of all women, regardless of age, race, class, location or any other factors. Yes, all women experience misogyny.

A lot has happened in the last few months, from that fateful email congratulating me on being a nominee for a GLAAD Media Award — What? How? OMG! — to returning to Juneau Monday evening with a 10-lb. award that will also grace the mantels of the likes of Jennifer Lopez and Laverne Cox, among many others.

When I realized that I Love You, You're Perfect, Now Change had two casts, I was torn — which cast do I see?

I had woken up from a nightmare, earlier than normal for me, when I received an email that I was nominated for a GLAAD Media Award. Instead of going back to sleep, I obsessively read everything possible about the awards and nominees and grew increasingly excited. There was certainly a period of disbelief — how on earth did GLAAD even come across a series in the Juneau Empire?

I was at the Alaska Robotics Gallery on a weekend when George Kuhar, with wife and fellow musician Bridget Kuhar, asked if I wanted to be in a music video. I shrugged and said sure.

It was the right answer.

George asked the same thing of a couple dozen people around town. We all sang a line or two of a song from the Kuhars' music project Playboy Spaceman's newest album "One Heart Army."

The result is a joyful music video that is sure to put a smile on your face.

The video was down temporarily, but has been reposted with a minor edit.

Scratch, scratch, scratch. Squeak. Rustle, rustle.

Those are the sounds made by my unwelcome newest housemate.

Beau, the dog, was certain of his presence before I would admit we had a mouse in the house — I'm still convinced he's a lone mouse — but I couldn't deny it any longer when I stared the mouse in his tiny, furry, adorable face in the living room. Beau seems intent on conquering the mouse himself, so I called for him. He doesn't listen well. The mouse took the cue better than my faithful guard dog and scurried back to a hiding place.

Now and then a well-meaning grammarian or stylist will contact me with a critique; sometimes I'm wrong, sometimes I'm right, and sometimes it's just a matter of potato and po-tah-to.

The English language is a tricky one, with Latin and Germanic roots, with exceptions to every rule and, like many languages, it is constantly changing to keep up with common usage.

Today I had a message regarding anniversary announcements and the pluralization of names ending in 's.'

Here's round two of my holiday shopping guide, because there's more to life than clothing and jewelry — I hear shoe leather tastes disgusting.

Because boredom is the worst, gifts to entertain are always a hit.

Is this a wish list? Not exactly. I have on many occasions had people ask me, "Wow, where did you get that (article of clothing/pair of shoes/necklace/useful item)?" — usually, I can respond that I bought the item locally (and mostly downtown), which surprises some people. More than a wish list, it is a guide on how to shop locally for most anything you need, with special attention to small businesses and locally-made goods. It's not a complete list of places to shop in town, it's more a list of places I frequent.

October has become a bittersweet month for me. Halloween is my favorite holiday (one point for October), I had a hard time falling asleep last night because the whole town had that haunted feeling with rattling window panes and howling wind (minus one), Juneau is all ours again (plus one), and it's PINKWASHING MONTH (minus 50).
