Michael “Mike” Ellers
Former Juneau resident Michael “Mike” Ellers, 67, died Sept. 18, 2011, at his home in Maricopa, Ariz. after a short battle with lung cancer.
He was born Oct. 27, 1943 in Juneau and worked as a longshoreman for 40 years with Local 200 Juneau International Longshore and Warehouse Union. Mike and his wife, Flo, recently moved to Arizona for their retirement years.
Mike was preceded in death by his father, Roman, brother, Ronnie, and mother, Natalie “Tillie”. He is survived by children Michelle Ruane of Juneau, Yvonne (Steve) Davis of Juneau, Nicole Ellers of Kent, Wash., Valentina (Todd) Rodriguez, of Bakersfield, Calif., and many other family members.
A memorial service will be held in Juneau in May. A full obituary will follow at a later date.
Margie Lillian Mercer
Margie Lillian Mercer died in Ballard, Wash. Aug. 17, 2011.
She was born March 4, 1959 in Juneau and was raised in Hoonah.
She is preceded in death by her father Edwin Mercer Sr., sister Beverly Mercer and several other family members. She is survived by her mother Mabel Lawrence; sisters Annajo Mercer, Martha Channell, Rachael Lawrence, Victoria Watkins, Jacqueline Gray, Loretta Williams, Marie Howard and Tina Johnson; brothers Frank Mercer, Randall Johnson, Edwin Mercer Jr., Alvin Mercer, George Mercer, Thomas Sanders, Bill Cook Jr., Ernest Hillman and Oliver Hillman; and several other family members.
Services are scheduled for 1 p.m. Saturday at the Tlingit and Haida Community Center, 3235 Hospital Drive.
