Richard Sterling Erickson
Richard Sterling Erickson died Sept. 15, 2011, in Seattle.
He was born Nov. 8, 1940, in Thermopolis, Wyo., the first child Gustav Napoleon Erickson and Mildred Cutrell.
Richard graduated from Hot Springs County High School in Thermopolis, where he was a member of the swim team and wrestling team. He graduated from the University of Wyoming in 1962 with a Bachelor of Science degree. Shortly after graduating college he accepted a job in Alaska with the Alaska Department of Fish & Game. He was member of the Alaska National Guard.
In 1963 he married Judith Ann Hafibar of Ketchikan and had two sons, Paul and Marc. In the early 1970s he owned and operated Erickson Motors and in the mid 70s he became a real estate broker and sold commercial properties in Juneau and Washington. During this time he was a member of Juneau Christian Center.
He enjoyed many hobbies, including fishing, hunting, scuba diving and mountain climbing,
He is survived by his sons Paul Erickson of Troutville, Ore. and Marc Erickson of Bonney Lake, Wash.; his sister Kyle Marek of Fort Morgan, Colo.; and many other family members. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at the Church of the Resurrection in Bothell, Wash.
