John Robert Pugh Jr.

 

John Robert Pugh Jr. died Oct. 24, 2011. He was 35.

Pugh graduated from the University of Oregon with a Bachelor of Science in marine biology in 1998 and spent many years owning and operating a commercial shellfish farm. He most recently owned and operated The Scuba Tank in Juneau.

He is survived by his wife Myra B. Pugh, daughter Sophia, father John Sr. and mother Margaret.

In lieu of flowers, a college scholarship fund has been set up for John and Myra’s daughter Sophia. Donations may be sent to the University of Alaska Savings Plan with a memo “for the benefit of Sophia Y. Pugh” and mailed in care of The Chancellor’s Office, University of Alaska Southeast, 11120 Glacier Highway, Juneau, AK 99801.

Additionally contributions may be made to “Discovery Southeast” a hands-on nature education program for Southeast Alaskans at www.discoverysoutheast.org under the get involved/become a member tab or by phone at 463-1500.

A celebration of life will be held at 4 p.m. on Friday at Northern Light United Church, 400 W. 11th Street.
