Ronald M. Dippold died Feb. 17 at the age of 78. Born in Cheektowaga, N.Y., Dippold attended Syracuse School of Forestry and served as a Lieutenant Commander in the U.S. Navy before joining the U.S. Forest Service, where he spent his career. He was an Alaska Pioneer, active for 52 years with the Juneau Ski Patrol and volunteering in many capacities with the American Red Cross.
He is survived by his wife, Elisabeth Dippold, son Ron, Daughter Katharine Barrantes, sister Margaret Hens, sister-in-law Audrey Dippold and numerous nieces and nephews.
An internment ceremony will be held at the Shrine of St. Therese on Sat., Feb. 22, at 2 p.m. A celebration of life ceremony will follow in late spring. In lieu of flowers, a donation may be made to Hospice and Home Care of Juneau.
