Freda Marie Borchick
Freda Marie Borchick passed away on Oct. 21, 2015. She was 83 years old.
Freda was born in Hoonah, but lived the majority of her life in Juneau. She was Tak’Dein Taan of the Mount Fairweather House. Her Tlingit name is Waak es teen. She graduated from Juneau-Douglas High School in 1951 and worked for the State of Alaska Heath and Social Services Department for more than 30 years. She married Joe Borchick in 1953 and they made their home in Auke Bay.
Freda was preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Elsie Greenewald; sisters, Mable, Tillie, Hilda, Charlotte, Genevieve, Rosina and Janet; brothers, Albert, Robert, Adam and Karl.
She is survived by her daughter, Bonnie Jo; granddaughter, Katelyn Savland; sisters, Pauline Hinchman and Marlene Johnson, and numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.
She will be cremated and her ashes will be brought back to Alaska. A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
