Joel Howard Barnett died Friday, Sept. 22, 2017. He was the fourth child of William Raymond and Winnifred Esther Barnett.

He is survived by his adult children: Randy Barnett, Roger Barnett, JoJean Anderson, and longtime close lady friend Ellen Taylor.

After completing high school in Ione, Oregon, Barnett joined the U.S. Navy. His ship, the U.S.S. Noble, was deployed to Korea as part of the Inchon Armada.

In the summer of 1969, Barnett achieved a lifelong dream of living in Alaska when he moved his family to Juneau.
