Darlene L. “Dee” Lane — a second-generation Alaskan born 1932 in Portland, Oregon — died Dec. 6, 2017, at the Alaska Pioneers Home in downtown Anchorage. She was 85.
She was a designer, land, regional and energy planner and a teacher; and also worked to help Alaskans recover after the Great Alaskan Earthquake of 1964. She studied architecture at the University of Washington, Seattle; and later earned her undergraduate and graduate degree with a master’s in Urban Planning from the University of Alaska in Anchorage.

Dee is survived by her sister, Marilyn Murry of Arizona; children, Linda Lane and Ward Lane; and grandchildren, Bryan Greer, Jason Greer, Christina Greer, and Jessica Morse; and great-grandchildren, who live in Fairbanks.
