Death Notice: Shannon L. Garrett

Shannon L. Garrett peacefully passed away surrounded by family and friends after a six-month battle with leukemia (AML). She was 70.

Garrett was born Jan. 23, 1948, in Anchorage, Alaska, to Helen Gochnauer and Jack Garrett. She first came to Juneau in 1975 as a page in the Alaska State Legislature. Shannon returned in 1976 to serve as the Sergeant of Arms in the House. From 1979 to 1982, she was the Administrative Assistant for Anchorage Rep. Thelma Buchholdt. She is survived by her children, Gina (Reese) and Sean (Tammie), her grandchildren, Liam, Tanisha, Kira, Zachary, Rachael, Danny, Kian, Brielle, and her great-grandchildren, Torien, Jaina, and Garrett. She is preceded in death by her son, Garrett.

A Celebration of her Life will be held at the Woman’s Club of Olympia, 1002 Washington St. SE, in Olympia, Washington, on Saturday, June 9, 2018, at 5 p.m. Come celebrate the life of an incredible woman whose radiant love left an indelible imprint on our souls and changed each of our lives for the better.
