Changes coming to Egan Drive

Bad idea. It will cause hold-ups in both directions as people wait behind a driver waiting to turn left, and will inordinately decrease the flow of traffic.
Let us not get confused with the facts, it is the allegations that are the most important around here!
It is a step backwards. Is there a study that says by reducing the number of lanes we can get more traffic through that area? I think not!
Narrowing the roadway to two lanes (1 each way?) and the lowering of the speed limit from Main St., all the way to the 10th St. intersection, is way beyond a bad idea. I would hate to be the "designer" that came up with this idea.
But as they say " you can't fix stupid" no matter how much education a person has.....
A lack of experience and common sense will always show through.
This is just another example of Bad Planning ideas.
Who thinks this stuff up?
Just like the current Auke Bay Harbor bad planning. Phase-1 (which is just about complete), gives a loss of about 40 boat stalls in Auke Bay, and a good chunk of the loading zone is now gone. (the "work float" area will now be part time loading and part time moorage, good luck with that). So how can this be an upgrade or improvement? And it won't be until Phase-4 in 2016 that they address the new loading zone area.
Expect four years of "mad house" in Auke Bay.
Well after 20 odd years of living in this hole (Juneau) I am finally moving out to greener pastures. Juneau is a dead end for all. Let the city continue to ruin and devastate this hole of a tourist trap. Good riddens to all who think Juneau is the heart of your soul.....
you want to reduce traffic in downtown just outlaw traffic downtown. Shuttle from parking areas at the downtown fringe, only vehicles allowed downtown are service/supply, no buses (let the tourists walk they need the exercise) and viola....a beautiful traffic free area. Just watch out for all those crazy bicyclists!!!
To make it difficult for tourists to get on a bus for the glacier or whale-watching so they stay in our downtown area and spend money at tourist merchants shops? The same merchants who pack up all their profits and their tanzanite and leave town in the Fall? The big plan is to make it impossible for us locals to navigate into the downtown area, where the city has gotten rid of all parking anyway, to support what few local merchants remain there? The big plan is to make it difficult for residents of Thane to get home from work in the evening? The big plan is to gentrify the Willoughby district, removing State employees ability to drive in from the valley to work every day? Are they trying to kill 50%+ of the income in this town? Exactly who is the winner in this scenario? Who stands to gain from this idiocy?
