Wal-Mart denounced wide-circulating rumors Monday that it would be closing its Juneau store next month.
The local Toyota dealership owner said the service center is ready to handle Juneau's portion of a massive manufacturer recall announced last week.
The gray wall of the Juneau-Douglas Treatment Plant's incinerator is speckled with numbers. The wall reads ".198," ".159," ".082," ".096," ".203."
Ralph Samuels wants to be governor to boost the state's economy, including the oil and gas industries he championed in four terms in the Alaska Legislature, the cruise ship industry for which he now works, as well as the locally important mining and fishing industries.

Animated characters are usually geared toward children, and for this reason, a quick glance at the cartoonish images of "A Klondike Tale," Avery Veliz's planned feature length film set in Skagway, may lead viewers to a false conclusion. Namely, that this is a gentle story, one that willingly covers over the harsh realities of greed, corruption and prostitution rampant in Skagway in the 1890s, or at least one that treats them with disparaging humor.
