All this snow reminds me of the one and only time I used a snowblower. Fortunately, no one died.  
  That particular winter, Doug, the Official Snowblower, was going out of town, but snow doesn't take a hiatus so he showed me how to start it. He demonstrated the basics of maneuvering it around, cautioned me to be careful, and left. Doug always clears the whole driveway and the berm, and often takes care of the neighbor's berm while he's at it.

            We are in the midst of ending the first part of season with a strong run. Last Friday’s victory marked the third in a row, adding to a much needed win streak. On Friday we traveled 5 hours on the bus before arriving and playing against PTK Pabianice, also known as the “team in the skirts.” The game was very slow with not much scoring in the first half, maybe the long bus ride beforehand contributed, however the fourth quarter was very strong for us and we come away with a 68-47 win.

It's been a rough couple weeks for many of us. If the crowd at the Newman boys' memorial was any indicator, I might estimate there are thousands of us in pain right now. More now that we've heard news of Jimmy's passing as well. For some, it's the pain of seeing someone die before their time. For some of us, it's the pain of losing a friend. And it's a really bad kind of pain. 

For the week after I found out about the boat accident, I wrote letters in my head to Casey, eventually writing some on paper.

This week I will be 60 years old. I’ve been thinking about this birthday for a while, as is the trend with those big decade landmarks.

My blogs are often easy to write. I love to share my stories about my adventures outdoors and the words usually flow out on to the page. This one has been very difficult to write. I’ve started and stopped and started over again about half a dozen times over the past couple of weeks
