Please refrain from lighting fireworks

I beg you not to set off your fireworks on New Years.

I live in the valley and have two big dogs, one is elderly but they both fall apart each year when you set off your fireworks on New Years and the 4th of July.

I do give both my dogs sedatives but they do not work 100 percent. Even though my dogs are sedated they still tremble, drool and stumble as they try to get up and find a place to hide from all the noise and this goes on as long as you are setting off your fireworks. It is just gut wrenching to see my pets like this.

This year I am very worried that my oldest dog Sadie will not survive the noise because she has a serious heart condition. I worry that the combination of sedatives and stress will kill her.

Please, if I could drive somewhere to take my pets away from all the noise I would, but there is no place for us to go to get away from the noise in Juneau.

Gov. Bill Walker, I've always been a supporter of your hard-nosed approach to government. Hey, I would have liked an extra thousand bucks last October, but I appreciate functioning schools, hospitals and state troopers better. Can't win 'em all. Read more
