A waste that must not be repeated

Thank you very much for carrying the report of three Sitka blacktail deer being dumped on Montana Creek Road. None of the usable meat had been salvaged. Years ago I reported a similar find on Montana Creek Road. Alaskan’s care deeply about our wildlife and fully expect that hunters will refrain from killing these animals unless they are fully prepared to salvage the meat. In checking the Fish and Game website, I see that the meat may be given away, if it is in the condition you would keep for yourself and the gift is documented.

End of the road dumping of game animals is not tolerable. I appeal to readers who have information about this wanton waste of our wildlife to contact Wildlife Troopers at 465-4000 or the Safeguard hotline at 800 478-3377.
