Shocking words and actions on wildlife management

Looking at some of the governor’s highly questionable administrative appointments and hangers on — one should well start to worry. Especially as Gov. Sean Parnell appears to be such an anti-wildlife and a dominance-over-nature type governor — we should perhaps begin to wonder if he might suffer from an extreme condition known as arctophobia, the fear of bears?

Surely not, as it is a fairly uncommon condition that can be kept reasonably well in check. If not — then what is it that has lead the governor’s appointed Alaska State Board of Game (BoG) to recently pass, 4-3, the legal baiting and shooting of grizzly bears in several areas of Alaska and lead to the temporary tabling of a horrible bear-snaring and shooting solution to predator control?

The Wasilla Realtor and Board of Game Chairman Cliff Judkins is quoted as saying: “If there are plenty of brown bears to harvest, and there are people that want to harvest them, let them,”

Not since, 1986, and the governor’s race that year have I seen statements similarly shocking, which came forth from Alaskan Independence party candidates, Joe Vogler, and his running mate, Al Rowe! It was pretty scary stuff back then and it’s even scary stuff now — especially since we are in the 21st century of vastly new scientific knowledge concerning natural living systems and the processes driving their cause and effect!

If I was a formal religion man — and I’m not — I’d say the Board of Game’s non-scientific, chaos and mayhem plus wanton disrespect for wildlife was taken verbatim from 2 Kings 2:23-24 (King James Version) which some may recognize as the horrific story of Elijah’s bald head and 42 children and one pair of she-bears!

But — oh my God! What can be done right now — here in Alaska, to help all these marvelous wild creatures (all of us share) who really cannot, any longer, cope against such wrong-headed thinking in the name of “wildlife management?”

Well, the Constitution of the state of Alaska may offer some hope? Perhaps a class action suit?
