National Voter Registration Day

Tomorrow, Tuesday, Sept. 25 is designated as National Voter Registration Day in the United States.

This opportunity will be presented to our community as well. The League of Women Voters will have a presence at IGA Foodland from 10 a.m. until 1 p.m. tomorrow. This is another opportunity for you to register to vote or to change your address of record for voting.

A visit to the web site http://www.VOTE411.org is yet another opportunity for you to register or change an address before the election. At the Vote411 web site you can also learn the latest on your polling place. We welcome you to join us tomorrow or to visit the VOTE411 web site.

You can also visit the Alaska Government web site at http://www.alaska.gov to learn more about registering to vote or changing your address of record to vote in Alaska. When you enter the web site, type in Division of Elections in the Search box and you are there! This site provides valuable information about the many places where you can go to register to vote, what is needed to register, as well as the polling locations.

Our freedom and right to vote cannot be dismissed lightly. If we do not do our very best to decide for ourselves and to encourage others to decide for themselves with our vote, we shall come to understand that someone else has done this for us. We simply must not discard this right.
