Pulling the wool over our heads

Posted: November 4, 2012 - 1:10am

To the Editor:

Governor Parnell, his legislative and Business advocates are deceiving the people of Alaska about the trans-Alaska oil pipeline being in danger of shutting down within a few years.

Judge Gleason determined that the pipeline would be economical until 2065. The oil companies, in a settlement with the State, agreed the pipeline would be economical until at least 2044. The Senate Bipartisan Working Group’s research found many flaws in what the Governor and his advocates have been touting.

These nonrenewable resources belong to Alaskans and is mandated by the Alaska constitution they be used for the best interest of Alaskans. Any elected official that has voted for or is advocating giving the oil companies $2 billion a year, under either false pretense or ignorance, is being negligent of their legislative and constitutional obligations and should be removed from or voted out of public office.

HEY EMPIRE!

Why are you burying important letters like these under the Opinion link? Why aren't they displayed on your home webpage, next to the My Turn submissions?

Juneau Empire

I agree with the post above. The letters from your community members should be held as important as the My Turn writing.

Oil drilling

One must remember Parnell was an OIL LOBBYIST before He became Governor. He is still in the pockets of the oil companies, and will do anything to help them make MORE money.
