Congratulations to the Empire

Congratulations to the Juneau Empire on 100 years of service to Juneau, Southeast and Alaska. Though I was unable to attend your celebration in Juneau, I took the opportunity to applaud your milestone with an entry in the Congressional Record.

That entry points out to my Senate colleagues the vital role the Empire has played as Alaska has grown from the earliest territorial days, through statehood and on into the present. It says, in part: “In a state with such vast geographic distances, responsible and accurate news reporting from the capital is imperative and the Juneau Empire has risen to that challenge time and again.”

May your next 100 years be as important to Alaska’s growth, development and historical archive as have been your first.
