What message does approving the gun range send?

The peace-loving residents of Juneau need the City and Borough of Juneau’s proposal for an indoor, underground, fun-gun-range — like it wants to have more and larger cruiseships!

The Veterans for Peace are so very right to oppose this “guns-are-us” assault-rifle-style, fire-away-armory, just a few short miles from our downtown Capitol and City Hall. What message is CBJ really sending out with this one-dimensional sort of economic mall-development plan? What influential groups are at work here? The Veterans for Peace are simply asking for public hearings — more public hearings — to be held regardless of the ones proponents are saying were started back at the end of summer. Is that really asking too much? I think not — unless this plan is on some kind of ultra fast-track? So CBJ administration and planners, please try listening to the entire public you are serving.

Thank you so very much.
