Hey, dogs of Juneau!

Tara from West Juneau here. My owner is helping to type this letter because my nails get stuck in the keyboard. It’s time to have a serious talk with your owners regarding your poop. There are powerful forces at work planning to restrict our access to fun places to run and play if our owners don’t get their act together and pick up our poop.

If you are like me, you want to poop within the first couple hundred feet of the trailhead. You know as well as I do, Sandy Beach, the Mendenhall Campground, the Dike Trail… all are grossing out humans with the brown piles in the snow. And my owner sure gets mad when she has to dig dog poop out of the treads of her XtraTufs.

So, if you poop and your owners aren’t there immediately with those little plastic bags, bark at them or do the “Timmy fell in the well” routine and drag them back to your pile to pick it up.

Your owners think it’s government “over-reach” to close trails to dogs? Have them think again. They either pull the bag out of their pocket or pull the leash out…it’s up to them. By not doing either, your owners are choosing for all of us. And we’re not going to like the choice. Get serious – get your owners to do the right thing for our community. Thanks!
