You know that salmon stream you love? The governor doesn’t think you should have the right to keep enough water in it for salmon to spawn.
On Jan. 27, Governor Sean Parnell wrote: “Alaskans have the right to have a say over regulation of our own resources including land and water.” But the very same day he introduced a bill (HB77/SB26) designed to strip Alaskan citizens of their rights to assure enough water is left in streams to support healthy salmon runs.
Alaskan citizens currently have the right to apply for an “Instream Flow Reservation.” This common-sense water right benefits all Alaskans by protecting salmon and the economy salmon support. If passed by the Legislature, the governor’s bill will take the public out of resource development decisions trusting only Big Government and Corporate interest to know what is best for Alaska. Just know that when corporations seek future water use permits there is no requirement for the Department of Natural Resources to limit the volume, assuring there is enough water for wild Alaskan salmon.

Add commentOh My God.......this is an issue of MAJOR importance to Alaska.
Okay folks, listen up: This is something you had better watch closely. Major battles, and I do mean MAJOR battles have been fought in lower 48 states over this issue. This is not the place to detail what the issue involves but if you care at all about adequate water for fish and wildlife and fresh water sources for humans too you will get involved with this.
Pay ATTENTION......there are sinisiter forces at work here and they would love to grease this one by us.
Question is...
...which industry is applying the grease this time? The bill didn't get dreamed up by the legislature - someone plans to make a buck off of it. We already know who the grease is being applied to - the man leaves a trail of the stuff.

Hey Latitude,
Two words: Pebble Partnership. Seriously. Contact Egan and your Rep and let them know the sausage stinks big time on this bill.
