Letter: Sealaska adds last-minute candidate meetings

With only two days’ notice, Sealaska’s announcement of two additional “meet the board slate” gatherings in Sitka and Portland is an attempt to lose the Sealaska 4 and the other independent candidates by requiring non-endorsed candidates to cough up more funds to participate in these extra gatherings.

Endorsed “slate” candidates have their expenses paid by the independent candidates and shareholders through the corporation. These extra gatherings are to get shareholders to change their votes. It’s more productive if there isn’t any outside-the-slate interference.
