Alaska delegation: stop avoiding Juneau town hall

After months of requests to U.S. Sens. Dan Sullivan and Lisa Murkowski and U.S. Rep. Don Young to hold a town hall meeting in Juneau, and after the indignity of both senators taking the side door into the Capitol, avoiding those awaiting them on the Capitol steps during the February recess, I now see in the Petersburg Pilot that Young, his wife Anne, and staff Chad Padget visited Petersburg on Monday, April 10, and provided a “community meeting” in the Assembly Chambers of the Municipal Building from 2-3 p.m. No one I know in Juneau heard about this.

The purpose of Young’s Easter recess was to visit with constituents. A Young staffer told a Juneau resident he’d never had a town hall meeting in Juneau and never would. We hereby ask any and all of our congressional representatives to make themselves available to the people of Juneau, Alaska’s capital. This is the second recess during which these requests have gone ignored.
