Looks can be deceiving

I am old, heavy, and brown.

Who would think in my life time at least 40 percent of my miles have been used driving a first responder on 911 calls? You’d never know it from how Juneau is treating me.

First, six months ago, while parked at Park Shore Condos, my battery was taken out so I could not start. That meant my silver-haired old lady owner had to climb a step stool and lift a new heavy truck battery into my engine well only two weeks out from knee surgery.

Then, early this February, someone smashed out my rear canopy glass and stole items – again. Parking at the Main Street City parking garage, with lighting and security patrols, didn’t turn out to be a safe place for me to rest my wheels, after all.

That person who chose to vandalize me could well be someone I would have rolled out to help in the middle of the night back in my 911 response years.

Since I’m due to be sold, now that my owner has downsized to a small car, I’m glad she hopes to find a buyer anyplace ELSE except Juneau so I’ll be able to feel safe again.

Sincerely, 1993 FORD F-150 4×4

Thanks for letting my truck give its opinion on its treatment while in Juneau.

Mossy Mead,

Juneau
