I understand the obstacles of snow, rain, heat and gloom of night but not that of the U.S. Postal Service itself. On the heels of termination of Saturday delivery of mail, which doubles the carriers’ burden the following Monday, we folks in Auke Bay and beyond are told, without prelude or justification, that the availability of service at the Auke Bay station’s counter soon will be curtailed substantially. Why? I’ve spoken with customers and with postal employees, none of whom seems to be able to answer that question. Is it economical? Is it more convenient for someone?
