Woman convicted of attempted theft in PFD case

ANCHORAGE — Alaska state officials say a 62-year-old Soldotna woman has been convicted of attempted theft in a Permanent Fund dividend fraud case.

Officials say Sherrie Ace will be on probation for two years as part of a plea agreement she made with prosecutors.

Court records show Ace pleaded guilty to a charge of second degree attempted theft. According to records, another charge of unsworn falsification was dismissed by prosecutors.

Officials say Ace is banned for life from applying for or receiving a PFD check.

According to officials, Ace submitted false statements on her 2010 PFD application regarding her Alaska residency and her Oregon residential fishing licenses.

Officials say the Permanent Fund Dividend office investigated and did not issue a 2010 check to Ace.
